The Saatchi Gallery
Duke of York's HQ
What kind of art is shown at START?
Contemporary art from around the world, including paintings, sculpture, installations, videos, multiples, prints and performances.
Who is START for?
START provides international galleries with a global platform on which to show their artists in London, one of the most important cities in the art world.
The fair looks to attract an audience of the general public and individuals with an interest in the art world, such as curators, artists, collectors, gallerists, museum directors and critics. START welcomes both first-time and seasoned collectors of art.
What's different about START?
START is one of the few fairs which brings together galleries from some of the world's most exciting emerging markets - many of which have never exhibited in the UK before - alongside young galleries from established artistic centres.
The fair was founded by the Global Eye Programme, an initiative that nurtures worldwide artistic talent, in partnership with the Saatchi Gallery.
The fair provides young galleries and their artists with a platform and the support and recognition that they need to develop their careers. START offers an elegant, professionally lit, museum standard exhibition space to over 40 exhibitors and visiting public alike.
What is the Global Eye Programme?
The Global Eye Programme is an initiative that Parallel Contemporary Art founded in 2009 - the creative vision of founders David and Serenella Ciclitira. The programme has worked in partnership with the Saatchi Gallery to provide an international platform for new art scenes in Asia. As part of START London 2017, the Global Eye Programme will present Vietnam Eye, a curated section of the fair celebrating Vietnamese contemporary art. The artists featured in Vietnam Eye are chosen by a team of curators which includes Serenella Ciclitira (Founder, Global Eye Programme) and Nigel Hurst (Chief Executive, Saatchi Gallery)
In 2009 the Global Eye Programme launched a series of international touring exhibitions and publications, providing emerging Asian artists with opportunities to showcase their work. Previous exhibitions include Korean Eye (2009, 2012), Indonesian Eye (2011), Hong Kong Eye (2013), Prudential Malaysian Eye (2014) and AIA Vietnam Eye (2017)
