KANG Hyung Koo (b.1955) graduated from Choong-Ang University, Seoul with a BFA in Painting (1980).
Kang is an established Korean contemporary artist best known for his hyper realistic portraits of iconic personalities from history that include Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, Michelangelo, Abraham Lincoln, HRH Princess Diana and many more. The artist’s unique style of illustration creates new personas from the pool of imagery of famous faces that is deeply imprinted on our psyche.
Kang’s work has been exhibited extensively in numerous solo and group exhibitions including Korea, UK, USA, Singapore, China and Japan. In 2009 he participated in Korean Eye: Moon Generation at Saatchi Gallery, London and again in 2012 he took part in Korean Eye 2 at Saatchi Gallery, London. His portrait of Mother Teresa featured on the cover of the accompanying book published by Skira.
