Charlotte is a self-taught artist exploring the natural world through her creative practice. The artist’s journey has been profoundly shaped by her love for animals, and fascination with the rich and dynamic colours that she associates with the cultural tapestry of India.

Artworks are created on large raw-edged canvases and, also on a smaller scale finished with antique frames.

Charlotte’s miniature paintings focus primarily on animals that are seen as ‘lower forms’ (chickens, foxes, small birds) and by placing them inside vintage ornate frames she aims to elevate their status into something to be cherished.

By omitting contextual background, she suspends the animal in an aesthetic realm, making it the unapologetic subject and not a substitute or stand in for the human form, but proudly holding its own space.
